The writing continues...

In one week I will be taking an unpaid "vacation" during which I shall spend as much time as possible AWAY from the apartment, writing. I want to get through this phase of editing and begin the proof reading as soon as possible. I believe that if I can move to the proofs, I'll be able to reach my deadline of "ready to send to agents" by the end of December.

This is getting rather nerve wracking at the moment, partly because I'm excited and eager to move forward, but because I'm pretty clueless about several parts of the process. I know the theory, and how one is supposed to go about it, and I know the general rules that one must follow, like formatting, querying, and so one...but HOW to do all of that...I just don't know.

Be that as it may, I have a potential contact who's already been published with scholastic (thanks, dearest mother-in-law :D), and hopefully the gentleman will have the time to offer some advice.

For now, I'll continue to move forward...and back to work.

Where have I been?

Busy, that's where. We've had about a month of CRAZY at the shop. But it hasn't kept me from my book! I'm still making progress, and I just got approval to take the week of Labor day off... which means an all day Star Wars campaign on Labor day, and then four days straight of just writing while my wife is at work.

Life in general is getting...interesting. The lives of my friends are changing, some for the better, others' for the worse. Jason's back in school to get his master's degree, Austin's pretty much fully active in the Army, David's about to graduate from Navy basic training, and Gabe's getting married (oldish news, but still good and coming up).

There are some bad things going on as well, but I won't speak of them, partly because I don't want this blog to be depressing or whiny, but mostly because I don't want to disrespect the people involved by displaying their private lives to the world. A lot of things happened that shouldn't have, and the fallout is going to suck. That's all I will say.

Now, my wife is off of the phone (she was at work late for Back to School Night, and she just got home, but she was talking to her mom). I'm going to spend some time with her. :)
